Reaching the Most Vulnerable: NCCDO’s Commitment in Action

Mr. Kocho Adam, a dedicated staff member of NRC, recently spent a meaningful and inspiring session with students at Karumba Secondary School. The interaction created a safe and open space for students to express their hopes, ambitions, and visions for the future. Throughout the discussion, it became clear that within this group are aspiring civil engineers, doctors, IT professionals, and future leaders across many other fields, each driven by a strong desire to succeed and make a positive impact in their communities.

However, beyond their enthusiasm and potential, the conversation also revealed the harsh realities these students face. Limited resources, access to opportunities, and ongoing challenges continue to stand in the way of their dreams. These barriers threaten to dim their aspirations if left unaddressed.

This moment served as a powerful reminder that these young people are not lacking in ambition or ability—they are in need of support, guidance, and empowerment. As a community, we must rise up to invest in their future, nurture their talents, and provide them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. By doing so, we help transform their dreams into achievable goals and lay the foundation for a brighter, more hopeful tomorrow.

David Chalumba, an executive member of NCCDO and a staff member at LM International, continues to champion community development through purposeful mentorship and youth empowerment. During his engagement with students at Karumba Mixed Secondary School, he emphasized the importance of building strong character, nurturing ambition, and unlocking the vast potential that lies within every learner. His presence and message reflected the true impact of mentorship in action—guiding young minds not only toward academic success, but also toward personal growth and self-belief.

In his address to the students, Mr. Chalumba encouraged them to go beyond memorization and surface learning, urging them to deeply engage with their studies. He reminded them that true understanding is the foundation of excellence, telling them, “You should try as much as possible to understand the concept…” His words resonated strongly, inspiring students to approach their education with curiosity, discipline, and confidence as they prepare for the future ahead.
